“It all began on Feb 3, 2020, the day I got to the reading center. I was confused and mad that I was there, and was mad at my parents.
In my first lesson, it was hard, but I made it through, and eventually I got better and saw my progress.
School was extremely difficult because the program at the school was moving a little bit too fast for me. They were teaching me at a pace that I wasn’t ready for because I didn’t have the reading capability to keep up. I had trouble at school and was losing progress.
With help, it got easier and got better and better. My life got easier with The Literacy Link Reading Center, formerly Dyslexia St. Louis Literacy and Advocacy Center.
Through the years, I have had hardships with reading and writing, but I have gotten through those with the help of Mrs. Kaye and her teaching skills. For the past five years, I have gotten reading support two days per week through the school year, summer, and even during the pandemic.
This has been my life for the past five years, and I think it was worth it.”
